Your homepage doesn’t have minutes to explain. It has only 5 seconds to make sense.

Research on web usability has shown that visitors form their first impression of a website in just a few seconds. If the message isn’t clear almost immediately, they move on.

Welcome to 5-seconds homepage project.

Most homepages don’t fail because of bad design.

When someone lands on your website, they are usually comparing options and deciding whether to stay or leave. If your homepage can’t answer this simple questions within the first few seconds, most visitors won’t stay long enough to figure it out.

What do you do?

Who is it for?

Why should they care?

What is The 5-Second Homepage Project?

The 5-Second Homepage Project is a small free initiative where I personally review the real business homepage, and suggest improvements so visitors can understand the business faster and more easily for selected businesses.

In other words, the goal is simple: to help your homepage make sense within the first five seconds.

How this project works

The process is simple and straightforward.

Submit your website

Share your website along with a short explanation of what your business does and what feels unclear about your homepage.

I review every submission and select a small number of websites that would benefit most from clearer messaging.

If your website is selected, I will review your homepage and suggest improvements to make the message clearer and easier to understand.

Some selected projects may be turned into short case studies to show the before and after of the homepage messaging.

What selected websites will receive?

If your website is chosen for the project, I will personally review the messaging on your homepage and suggest ways to make it clearer and easier to understand.

The focus of this project is not redesigning the website, but improving the words that help visitors quickly understand what the business actually does.

This usually includes:

A short homepage clarity audit

Suggestions on structure and focus

Suggestions on structure and focus

Improvements to the value proposition

Suggestions for clearer calls to action

Every submission will be reviewed, but only a small number of websites will be selected for each round.

Who this is for

This project is intended for service businesses that already have a website but feel something about the homepage isn’t quite right.

Businesses from any country are welcome to apply.

Why I’m doing this

This project also helps me study how website messaging works in the real world.

By reviewing real websites, I can better understand where clarity breaks down, and how small changes in wording can improve how a business is understood.

Because of that, some selected projects may be turned into short case studies showing the before and after of the homepage messaging.

If your website is selected, I may write about the changes as part of the project.

Submit your website

If you’d like your homepage to be considered, you can submit your website below.

I review every submission, and a small number of websites will be selected for each round.

No cost. No obligation. Just a chance to make your homepage clearer.

Sometimes a small shift in wording can change how people understand an entire business.

The goal of this project is simply to make that first impression clearer. Because every homepage only has a few seconds to make sense.
